Pieta

Pieta, a reinterpretation of Michelangelo’s iconic masterpiece as a live performance using elaborate regalia and set in the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery.

My live performance is a multi-sensory durational piece where I examine the ever present fear of losing a child to violence as a woman of color and a mother to a small brown boy.

I cradle 33 men and women of color for 3:33 seconds, a nod to the age that Jesus Christ was at the time of his execution.
